The legal issues for Google’s YouTube continue. Here are some select stories over the past few days on YouTube and more legal issues Google has to deal with.
NBC lines up against YouTube in copyright case from News.com reports that NBC Universal and Viacom requested in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles to file a “friends-of-the court brief” to help journalist Robert Tur’s case against YouTube.
Robert Tur claims his footage of the 1992 Los Angeles riots were uploaded to YouTube without his consent. This case can be huge for online video sharing, in that if Google wins under the Safe Harbor provision of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) then it would be a major shot to NBC and Viacom.
Premier League Sues YouTube from the Wall Street Journal reports a top soccer league in England has sued YouTube for copyright infringement. The Football Association Premier League Ltd. and publisher Bourne Co. filed the suit in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan on May 4th.
